Il Bosco di Pozzovolito

The property “Il Bosco di Pozzo Volito” is located in the countryside of Patù, in the locality “Macchie”, renowned for the beauty of an unspoiled landscape of Mediterranean scrub and olive trees preserved over time.
Set on the Ionian coast of the Salento Peninsula, it is only 600 meters from the beaches of Felloniche and San Gregorio, it is close to the sandy end of the Maldives of Pescoluse, 2 km from the towns of Castrignano del Capo and Patù and3 km from Santa Maria di Leuca and caves of the Adriatic coast.
· The surface of the property (1.3 hectares, with the possibility of annexing other land) alternates woods of laurel and oaks Vallonee (the only ones left in the area), stone terraces with ancient olive trees (over a hundred and all productive), and plants typical of the Mediterranean scrub, wild mimosa and almond, fig and carob, myrtle, rosemary, caper, wild asparagus and fennel, rose hip, heather, thyme, lavender, lentisk, broom and oleander.The land is pristine, having never been used chemical products and with the passing of the seasons alternate endless varieties of flowers and perfumes.
The boundaries are bordered on the entire perimeter by ancient dry stone walls in local stone, recently recovered and in an excellent state of conservation.
· Access to the property has two roads, both driveways.
The main one is on the asphalted Volto Due municipal road that from Castrignano del Capo leads to the beach of Felloniche. Beyond the entrance gate, the dirt road winds through the olive trees and shows, on the right, a stone arch door leads to a large protected courtyard (in “incurtaturo” dialect), a typical structure with high stone walls that protect from the sea wind and guard the fruits of apricot, fig, orange, lemon, mandarin and an artichoke garden, with a “pajara”, a conical construction in stone. · The external space around the house is all paved in stone and decorated with flower beds, olive trees and prickly pears. A flowered colonnade runs along the house and leads to the pedestrian entrance on Via Volito Due.
The relaxation area is shaded and furnished with deckchairs and hammocks, a large stone table with masonry seats, a shower in the green with “pileddha” (typical sink washed out of stone). Not far from the woodshed and a tool shed.
The outdoor patio includes other relaxation areas distributed on various levels going down towards the laurel and oak woods, connected by comfortable tufa stairways or stone paths.
We find first the barbecue area with oven carved into the rock, an outdoor kitchen, a large stone table with 12 seats in masonry, benches and seats in Lecce stone among the olive trees.
On the side, a gigantic stone blade turns into a natural cave used in ancient times as a water deposit and that now invites, filtered and illuminated, to invigorating baths on summer days. In the forest opposite, rest and meditation on the hammocks.
